Summary

Two concrete sewer pipes, upturned and placed side by side used as a World War II gun emplacement. Both pipes have wooden fencing posts around the inside with chamfered tops.On top of north east face of a fighter pen, RAF Kingscliffe.

Full Description

{1} On top of fighter pen (HER ref. 1294/1/17.) Two upturned concrete sewer pipes placed next to each other, both semi-sunken. Northern pipe is full of water, indicating a waterproof base. The eastern pipe has a short M.G. mount in its base. Both pipes have wooden fencing posts around.
Positions not marked on airfield record plan IWA/793/51 and no building drawing number.

{2} Photo of same type of construction, although version in book is slightly larger.

{3} Two concrete sewer pipes, upturned and placed side by side. Ther are both semi-sunken. The N pipe is half filled with water. The E pipe has a green painted metal gun mount in its base. Both pipes have wooden fencing posts around the inside with chamfered tops.On top of NE face of fighter pen, RAF King's Cliffe.
