Full Description
{1} This shoe factory is presumably that occupied by Taylor and Drage before they acquired new premises in London Road in 1915. It consists of two storeys and four structural bays, but the two end bays each contain two windows per floor, giving six window bays in all. On the north front two ground-floor windows retain their original form, with segmental brick heads, chamfered blue brick sills and cast iron frames. Two ground-floor windows in the west gable appear to be similar, but otherwise the fenestration of the north and west elevations has been modernised. There are substantial additions to the south and east, some of which may relate to boot and shoe manufacture, which is thought to have continued into the 1960s.
