Full Description

{1} The watching brief and machine trenches demonstrated that all the features within the south eastern enclosure were the result of quarrying and no structural evidence was recovered from those areas found to be undisturbed.

{3} During excavation undertaken in May 1979 post-medieval quarries were found. Medieval and early middle Saxon pot sherds and medieval tiles were also found redeposited within the quarry pits. The natural surface and the medieval levels only survive beneath the enclosure bank.
