Full Description

{1} Three intrusive Saxon burials were found, one with beads and two small, long brooches of 6th century type. The centre of the excavation is SP9065 5880.

{2} SP906586. Anglo-Saxon burials in association with Roman remains (ref. 3268/1/1). Three inhumations, one with a necklace and a brooch of the small-long type of 6th century date, were discovered.

{7} The centre of the excavation area was indicated by D Hall at SP 9065 5880. The site is now covered by modern housing development.

{8-10} This area was assessed as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Sited within a block and medieval and/or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks, no features as described above at (1-3) were visible on any of the available historic aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 1986. Aerial photographs taken in 1986 show that a modern housing development had been built upon the site.
