Monument record 4287/0/38 - 18th-century almshouses, Faxton

Summary
The almhouses were built in the first half of the 18th century. They were built of rough coursed ironstone and formed a single block of housing with two rooms at ground level and one bedroom above it for each occupant. The almshouses were in ruins after the Second World War.

Full Description
{1} Within the northernmost of these crofts the almshouses built in 1736 were situated.
{3} The almshouses were still occupied until the Second World War though with only one or two old women in the last decade. During the war they fell into ruins and were roofless by 1947. By 1966 only a part of the front wall and the base of the garden wall to the south remained.
