Full Description

{1} Documentary evidence: Latimers' Manor, the main medieval manor of Bozeat, was demolished by early in the 18th century. Remains of probable manor house of Latimer's Manor. The south part of the site has now been built over and only a few indeterminate earthworks survive. Close to the village street is a well-marked rectangular platform c.15m x 5m, and cut back into the slope. It probably represents the position of former buildings, but is unlikely to be the manor house itself.
[The RCHM appear to confuse two separate manor sites; the enclosure and fieldname maps and Bridges all relate to HER No.: 3272/3.]

{2} The area was devoid of buildings by 1799.

{6} Amorphous and irregular earthworks that may be the remains of a medieval manor house are visible on remote sensing data and were mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Located in a paddock within Bozeat village, immediately west of Spring Hill Farm and centred at SP 90861 58948, the earthworks extend over an area about 2892 square metres, spread across an irregularly shaped paddock some 63 x 82 metres at its widest points.
