Building record 6734/1/5 - The White Elephant (Formerly The Kingsley Park Hotel)

Built 1883. Locally listed building.

{1} The Kingsley Park Hotel was built in the late C19th by a syndicate of sporting gentlemen as a residential club for racehourse owners, trainers and jockeys, opposite the Racecourse on the corner of the Kettering and Kingsley roads.
Alongside the Racecourse the Kingsley Park Hotel, drastically underused during the lifetime of the races, was already known locally as a 'White Elephant' in 1920 and has retained that name ever since.

{2} A building was plotted at the Kingsley and Kettering crossroads, presumably the Kingsley Park Hotel.
