Full Description

{1/2} Earthworks of a possible Iron Age settlement. A sub-oval enclosure of bank (0.5m high) and external ditch (1.5m deep) with one entrance in the centre of the east side. There is later damage to the south and east sides and the interior is featureless apart from modern drains. Plan included. Field name: Egg Rings.

{3} Assessment of importance and condition of monument.

{5} in the south of Prentice Coppice lies an enclosure of 1.19ha called the Egg Rings. It is marked by a bank and ditch 20m wide and was first mentioned in 1849; an Iron Age date is possible, c800 BC-45AD.
