Summary

Earthworks of three roughly rectangular fishponds set into the valley bottom. Separated by massive earthen dams 2.5m to 3m high. A C19th sluice has been built in the middle of the dam.

Full Description

{1} Site visited 12/06/1986. Lower pond still water-filled. Other ponds are now dry and overgrown, but all are in fair condition. Not suitable for display.

{2} The fishponds were created in the mid C16th.

{3} Earthworks of three roughly rectangular fishponds set iinto the valley bottom. Separated by massive earthen dams 2.5m to 3m high. The dam of the lowest pond has been much altered in recent times; it has an ashlar rear face and a C19th stone sluice in its centre.
