Building record 3026/3/11 - Circular Pond & Water Supply South of Blatherwycke Hall

{4} Survey to the south of the site revealed linear chains of intense anomalies representing ferrous pipelines. A total of four pipes of various diameter were found to converge on the fountain. This was probably fed by a wide-bore pipe by gravity from the reservoir to the east.
Trenches 1 to 4 recovered no evidence of any garden remains except for a series of water pipes which would have fed the still extant circular fountain.
Magnetometry was of most use in elucidating the water management systems for the garden feature.
