Summary
A number of houses in Holyoake Street built around 1900, have single storeyed shoemakers workshops on the garden plots, backing onto a back alley. Alll have large east-facing windows overlooking the garden, and a stack on one corner. Their positon in the garden plot suggets that they were used for outworking rather than for domestic use.

{1} A number of the houses on Holyoake Terrace have single-storeyed workshops on their garden plots. All have a large east-facing window overlooking the garden, and a stack in one corner. Their position in the garden plots suggests that they were built for outworking rather than for domestic uses. First shown on OS map of 1899, now in use as domestic outbuildings.
