Full Description

{1} The buildings are constructed of coursed local limestone walls under Welsh slate roofs. The walls rest on offset foundations, the junction finished in red-firing plinth-bricks, a hallmark of the third quarter of the 19th century.
Red-firing brick is also used to stress the more prominent quoins, together with the reveals and lintels of doors and windows in a purely decorative manner.
There is very little alteration to the basic structure and the majority of the building is as originally built.
The front building is of two storeys under a hipped roof with a lead-sheathed timber cupola supporting a weather vane. It is known as 'The Dovecote'. To the north lie a single-storey range of stables.
There is very little evidence for the front building being designed as a dovecote ie no nesting boxes or ladder frames. Since the building contains two floors, each with a pedestrian door and windows, it is suggested that it was built as an office and store in a focal location, potentially for use by a senior person. The stables are a tiny remaining proportion of such stock-accommodation which would have been provided to the farmyard.
