Full Description

{1} Feature Group SP122. Fig.5.1. A group of postholes and pits, two of the latter contained most of the several hundred sherds of early middle Saxon pottery from this area. Charcoal from another pit has been given a date range of 690-880 Cal AD, indicating that there was some activity on the site between the C8th and C9th. On the northern margin of this group of features was a gully forming a reverse L-shape, measuring 6.0m x 2.9m, which may be the remnants of a small timber structure.
