Full Description

{1} Trench 2 contained the sole archaeological feature comprising a possible quarry pit cutting into natural limestone. The substantial, partially excavated sub-rectangular feature was 5.80m x 1.60+m x 0.53+m deep. A number of pot sherds were recovered ranging from c.1000 to 1400 in date. This reflects the site's proximity to the medieval manorial and castle sites and village core.
