Full Description
{1} A wall made of machine-made bricks on an east-west alignment, and forming the northern limit of excavation within Trench 1. It was exposed to a width of 0.5m and survived to a maximum height of 0.4m. The base of the foundation was at 0.55m below the present ground level.
Ground to the south of the wall was significantly disturbed by C19th and C20th service pipes.
A further short brick wall foundation around a rectangular cut may have represented the foundation of a small outbuilding at the rear of the building represented by the long east-west running wall.
The brick wall foundations coincide with the southern boundary of a public house marked on 1930s OS maps. It is possible that the wall dates to a rebuilding of this part of the terraces in the early C20th.
