Full Description
{1} The evaluation revealed very limited archaeological evidence consisting of an undated gully and a possible posthole in one trench, Trench 2.
The gully was east-west orientated, 2.5m long x 0.64m wide x 0.31m deep. The southern edge was more gradual than the corresponding steep northern edge. It ran into the edge of the trench and did not appear in the north-west to south-east leg of the T-shaped trench. It contained four different fills, none of which contained any finds.
The posthole was located 6m west of the gully, and was 0.5m x 0.3m x 0.1m deep. It was shaped like a figure-of-eight, with curved sides and base. It contained a single deposit of dark orange brown silt clay. It may be evidence for a double post setting, but could also be natural in origin.
