Full Description

{1} The weigh station is a small limestone building with a slate roof. A sign over the entrance door indicated that the estate had a licence to sell game. Outside the window of this structure, there is a metal plate on the ground which would have been used to weigh livestock, it is cast iron and inscribed with ‘Barwell & Co, Eagle Foundry, Northampton, 1836’. This pathway might have led to the southern part of the cottage which used to operate as a slaughter house.
