Full Description
{1} Three shallow pits were observed during trial trenching at 6 Church Lane, Potterspury. One contained no artefacts, one a single sherd of Iron Age pottery and the other a single sherd of 13th century Potterspury Ware.
Further sherds of pottery dating to the Roman and medieval periods were found in the subsoil sealing the pits. None of the medieval material shows any obvious signs of being kiln waste. The same general comments apply to the post-medieval material; despite the presence of a 17th century kiln nearby, none of the Red Earthenware exhibited any signs of being kiln-waste
