Full Description
{1} The bridge has three spans. The decks of the two side spans are formed from seven simply supported steel 'I' girders with brick jack arches. The east opening spanned the up line and the west down. The central span is a four ring brick arch and was used as a lamp room during the station's life. Three internal arches were formed in both piers within the lamp room. The abutments, piers and wing walls are formed from mass brick on mass concrete foundations. The parapets are also brick with twelve large capstones to the pilasters.
Helmdon Station was opened in March 1899 and was accessed by stairs from an entrance in the centre of the bridge's north pier.
