Full Description

{1} Trial trenching at Alibone Close identified two pits that probably dated to the Saxon period, on the basis of three sherds of abraded pottery found in the fills. The pits also contained animal bone including cattle, pig and goose. Charred cereal grains recovered from the pits included wheat, barley and oats.

{2} No further remains were identified during the subsequent observation of groundworks.
