Full Description
{1} Catesby Tunnel was constructed between 1895 and 1897 and the bore was driven from nine shafts, although a short length at the northern end was constructed by cut and cover. Four of the shafts were blocked up when construction was finished and five remained open as air shafts.
This is one of the five extant air-shafts with extensive areas of spoil around it.
