Full Description

{2} This site has its origins in two distinct factories. The Bective Works, which probably faced Bective Road to the north, was built by the shoe manufacturers James Branch, whose London-based firm dated from 1866. He is said to have moved to Bective Road in 1901, abandoning the London factory in 1931. The Kingsthorpe Shoe Machinery Works, fronting Yelvertoft Road, was built around in 1907 for the firm of Dilley & Son, who produced a variety of shoe-making tools and machinery. By 1924 the Bective Works has subsumed the Kingsthorpe Works.

Includes description of buildings as existing.
