Full Description

{1} Two-story workshop built on the south side of St Edmund's Road and forms the rear wing of a corner shop which has its shop front on Ethel Street. The 1882 OS map shows these buildings as separate premises. The workshop has a separate doorway, with a segmental head, on St Edmunds Road. However, the bracketed eaves cornice, with moulded brick brackets, is common to both elements, suggesting they form a single building. In 1896 the workshop was occupied by a boot-lift manufacturer while the shop belonged to a grocer.

The large segmental heads on the first floor suggest that this was the principal working area.
