Full Description
{1} Field 6 is littered with abraded pieces of Roman pottery fanning out from the north-east corner (189 sherds retrieved during fieldwalking). This distribution may be in part due to downslope-wash which would have left the higher part of the field denuded. The lack of finds towards the southern end of the field may be the result of masking by hillwashed silt. The large quantity of Roman pottery may be explained by the presence of contemporary pottery kilns immediately to the south-west.
