Full Description

{1} Built of stone, with a slate roof. Two storeys. The gable end against the road preserves the only evidence of a buildingof the 17th or early 18th century in the stonework. It has kneelers with the usual rounded corbel, and underchamfered coping, most of which has been replaced with concrete. The north end kneeler has been reset, the stonework lying at an angle. There is a blocked pitching door at first floor level, confirming its previous existence as a barn.

The present owner confirms that the building was a barn constructed in the mid 19th century. However, the stonework detail is sophisticated for a farm building in this area, and it is quite possible that the gable end, if not the rest of the building, was a small dwelling house before the 19th century conversion.
