Full Description

{1} Analysis, plan and photographs. Built of coursed local limestone with buttered and lined joints and a clay tile roof. It is of L-plan, with the main elevation facing south-west towards the farm buildings. Both the rear wing and the south-east gable end have simple coped gables, without kneelers. One of the finest features of the house are its two moulded stone depressed-arch fireplaces, with triangular spandrels. They were both originally on the upper floor, as suits their scale. This form of fireplace in the palour of Garden House, Mollington has been dated to the mid-later 17th century. The cross beam in the hall has cut and scoop chamfer stops at the rear end only, as does the cross beam in the former service room.
