Full Description
{1} A single-storey structure of three bays. Constructed primarily of precast concrete panels separated by steel I-section RSJs. It had three large doorways equally spaced along the western elevation. Surviving timbers in the building suggest there was formerly a loft platform spanning part of the building. A brick chimney survived in the north-east corner of the boathouse and its tall flue is visible on a historic photograph. No fire opening or fireplace was visible. Two rooms in the southern bay probably served as an office and boat maintenance area. An electrical fire on 15th November caused severe damage to the building, gutting the interior and destroying much of the roof. The walls, being constructed of concrete, interspersed by steel beams, remained largely intact.
