Full Description

[1} Archaeological excavation of an area immediately west of of the Holy Cross churchyard and 4m to the south of Abbey Street. A concentration of intercutting pits and ditches dating to the late Saxon and early medieval period was located in the north-east corner of the excavation area and extended beyond towards Abbey Street. The three main ditches were all broadly north-south aligned. A well was excavated in the later medieval period.
