Full Description

{1} Archaeological trial trenching identified two lengths of walling on the eastern side of the site. In trench 4 there was a north-south wall and in trench 8 there was a length that may represent a buttress on a north-south wall of the eastern side of a doorway through an east-west aligned wall. The walls are between 1.25-1.50m wide, not merely minor domestic buildings. Though the walls were undated, a layer abutting the wall in trench 4 was dated by pottery to between 1100-1400; roughly contemporary with the priory. Demolition dates were uncertain but may have been related to dissolution in 1526.
