Full Description
{1} Trial trench excavation along the route of the propsoed access track for a wind farm development found a small number of features. A small pit contained 14 chipped stone finds which were unlikely to be later than Bronze Age in date and another pit contained significant quanties of early Bronze Age (Beaker) pottery. The presence of an almost-complete Beaker vessel within this pit may suggest it was ritually deposited. Also found was charcoal, hazel nutshell and a single unidentified animal bone.
The two pits were some distance apart and may not be contemporary. The undated gully may be of more modern, agricultural origin.
