Building record 4341/2/9 - Service block, Kelmarsh Hall

A block of 19th-century service buildings connected to the main hall via a tunnel and including a laundry and an ironing room, as well as stable, forge and coach house

{1} Observation of conservation and restoration works to a block of ancillary buildings lying to the south-west of the main house and linked to it by a tunnel. Discovery of the remains of a structure behind the ironing room may be a former garden pavilion shown on an early 18th century plan. During the cleaning and recording of the wall excavated at the rear of the Ironing Room, it was noted a number of architectural fragments were built into the foundation. The fragments may date originate from the earlier hall (1630s) thought to lie somewhere nearby
