Full Description

{1} Notes regarding Dyden's dissatisfaction with the design of the new rectory. The architect, Mr Hawkins, had requested that he put down his objections in writing. 'When the house was externally complete I found fault with it wondering how anyone could put up such a house in that district where so many good examples of plain domestic buildings exist..'. Sketches of typical forms of Northamptonshire stone houses of both plan forms and architectural detailing and how the rectory does not conform to the local vernacular.
