Full Description

{1} Photograph of interior;

{2} Rectangular in plan, measuring 21'3" by 23' outside, the walls being 3' thick. The height to the eaves is about 16' and to the ridge 26'6". Built of the local stone. The roof was originally constructed of Collyweston slate, but has been largely repaired with small red tiles; there is now no lantern in the roof. The doorway is large, being 6'3" high and 3'9" wide. On the west side is an espaliered pear tree. Inside there are 830 nests, which have not been used for 60 years previously. The building appears to have been built in the 16th century. Probably this dovecote formed part of the Bray or Dyve Manor, belonging to Henry de Bray in the 14th century. Photograph of exterior;
