Full Description
{1} A Level 2 building survey was undertaken prior to conversion to residential use. The barn was probably constructed in the late 17th century with two episodes of extension to the north visible as butt joints in the northern two bays. Diagnostic features include a friable earth mortar used throughout and an oak bridging joist decorated using a simple run out stop chamfer (typically no earlier than late 17th/18th century) used in the latest phase of extension. Both extensions were illustrated in the enclosure map of 1779 {2}. The southern, earlier, bays of the barn had been demolished in the past.
