Summary

The earliest part of the building appears to be the eastern four bays of the Duke Street frontage, comprising three storeys over a basement, probably post-dating no 5 to the east. Possibly c1880. Between 1882 and 1899 the factory seems to have been extended westwards by two bays, occupying the site of an earlier house.
