Full Description

{1} Heritage asset survey carried out in 2016 as part of proposals for conversion. The large threshing barn at the rear of the farmyard is depicted on the draft enclosure map of 1797 {2}. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof. Two, originally full height, doorways are positioned opposite each other in the north and south walls. Also two pedestrian doorways. The roof appears to have been reconfigured, probably in the 19th century; the eaves have been raised and the trusses are of an odd construction, only rising as far as the 4th purlin. This means there is no support for the ridge apart from a relatively small vertical post set on top of a collar. The buildings along the eastern side of the courtyard include a simple two-bay cart hovel of brick and limestone. It is present on the OS map of 1900. To the south is a single story range containing four separate rooms, probably of two phases, but significantly altered.
