Summary

Early 18th century, probably schoolmaster's house and school initially and later subdivided to provide poorhouses. In c1836 it reverted to a single house for the schoolmaster.

Full Description

{1} Two storeys, originally lower and of class 1b (cross-passage house entered by a passage behind the living-room fireplace with two rooms, central stack and passage), perhaps the schoolmaster's house and a school built shortly after 1720 when the brothers Tanyer left money for this purpose (National Society for Religious Education). It was later subdivided to provide poorhouses. In c1836 it reverted to a single house (class 6a) for the schoolmaster; the internal stack was removed and a staircase put in its place;
