Building record 2913/0/114 - Bulwick School

An early 19th century school located on the southern side of Main Street. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with freestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with a brick chimney stack. Openings have cambered heads of coursed rubble. The school was known as a free school in 1848 and is now a nursery. The building comprises a schoolroom and teacher's house under the same roof

{1} Bulwick School, of coursed rubble with freestone quoins, openings with cambered arches of rubble, Welsh slate roof and red brick stack, consists of a schoolroom, and a two-storey single-room teacher's house, all under the same roof; it is early 19th-century, and perhaps dates from 1831 when a National School was established. Kelly (1847 Directory) described it as a small Free School, suggesting it was supported by the Tryons.
