Summary

A Romano-British site was discovered during building operations. The site was partially excavated, revealing a complex of ditches, gullies and pits. Both box and roof tiles were found but no corresponding building. There was Iron Age pottery and later Roman pottery, including colour-coated wares.

Full Description

{1} Near Templar Road, Kettering [quoted grid reference gives location c100m south], a Romano-British site was discovered during building operations. Partial excavation of the site by Mr B Dix revealed a complex of ditches, gullies pit etc. A number of tile fragments of both box and roof varieties were found, but a search of the area to be built over failed to locate the site of the building to which they belonged. Many colour-coated and other late sherds were recovered as were also some Iron Age sherds.
