Summary

Archaeological observation during building development to the rear of the Church Street frontage identified a small number of post-medieval/modern pits and an undated ditch. The features predated the buildings which were already present on site by the late 19th century at the latest.

Full Description

{1} Archaeological observation was undertaken in 2018 during the excavation of footings for an extension to one building and the excavation of footings for new buildings towards the east of the site, subsequent to the clearance of former buildings. An undated ditch aligned east to west was identified against the southern wall of 50 Church Street. Several rubbish pits, dating to the post-medieval and modern periods, were also identified.
