Full Description

{1} No leather-trades uses have been identified for these buildings, which may have originated as a confectionery factory, their use in 1940. It consists of two buildings on the west side of Roe Road: a three-storey factory with a single-storey office building on its south side. The two buildings are probably contemporary as the brickwork is keyed in and both have concrete lintels to the window openings. The office has a three-bay gabled elevation to Roe Road; the centrally placed doorway has a semicircular pediment on rusticated pilasters. The roof has been re-covered and a block on its south side has been replaced or refronted. The east gable of the factory presents two pier-and-panel bays to the road. A wide goods entrance has blue brick jambs and a concrete lintel and appears to be original. The south wall has a series of small windows on the second floor, probably indicating wash-rooms, a pentice-roofed extension beneath them and a projection that may house a hoist.
