Summary

Possible Iron Age and/or Roman enclosures, probably indicating a settlement site and associated land division, are recorded as faint cropmarks on EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs taken in July 2011. A ditched boundary extends roughly east-west for about 300 metres. Appended to the south side of this is a curvilinear enclosure measuring about 35 metres by 25 metres. Curving around the south side of this enclosure there is another enclosed area about 10 metres wide. Extending south from this, more ditched boundaries partially enclose an area measuring 50 metres north to south and at least 300 metres east to west. The southern boundary is parallel to the ditched boundary defining the northern edge of the visible extents of the site.

Full Description

{1} Possible Iron Age and/or Roman enclosures, probably indicating a settlement site and associated land division, are recorded as faint cropmarks on EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs taken in July 2011.

A ditched boundary extends roughly east-west for about 300 metres. Appended to the south side of this is a curvilinear enclosure measuring about 35 metres by 25 metres. Curving around the south side of this enclosure there is another enclosed area about 10 metres wide. Extending south from this, more ditched boundaries partially enclose an area measuring 50 metres north to south and at least 300 metres east to west. The southern boundary is parallel to the ditched boundary defining the northern edge of the visible extents of the site.

The cropmarks extend over an area measuring about 400 metres by 200 metres centred at SP 9922 6700.
