Please read our guidance about the use of Northamptonshire Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Now disguised by render, the three-storeyed portion of the Old Silver Band Club appears to have originated as an attached house and shoe factory, probably c1880. It was built at the rear of a large plot on the north side of Queen Street. The house formed the western three bays plus a lower rear range. The eastern portion formed the factory. The house and factory are now linked by an entrance bay to a large single-storeyed club extension, probably dating from the 1960s.

Full Description
{1} Now disguised by render, the three-storeyed portion of the Old Silver Band Club appears to have originated circa 1880 as a conjoined house and factory. It was built at the rear of a large plot on the north side of Queen Street. The house formed the western three bays plus a lower rear range. It had a central entrance, flanked by bay windows (now removed). A three-flue stack remains on the west gable and another has probably been dismantled to the east. The eastern portion probably formed a factory, but few external details are apparent in its present form. The building has a cogged eaves. The house and factory are now linked by an entrance bay to a large single-storeyed club extension, probably dating from the 1960s.
