Summary

A two-storey L-plan workshop or factory on the west of Victoria Road. This large workshop is built of brick with a slate-covered pitched roof. Ordnance Survey and other mapping, suggest that it was built pre 1882. The adjoining house to the south has presumably always formed part of the same property.

Full Description

{1} Two-storey L-plan workshop or factory. Much of the exterior has been painted but the eaves course and the window sills are in red brick. The ground floor has been comprehensively remodelled for a garage door and no clearly original features remain except for the small entrance at the north end. The first floor retains two large and one small workshop windows, which may have replacement casement frames. The loading door at the south end of the first floor appears to be original; it has a stone sill and an iron jib. Hips visible above the ridge of the main roof indicate the existence of a rear range, which may be original and was certainly in existence by 1882.
The adjoining house to the south, with a frontage to St Edmund's Road, is not allowed for in the house-numbering sequence for that road, and has presumably always formed part of the same property.
