Full Description

{2} Archaeological evaluation and subsequent excavation prior to development identified beam slots of a probable small timber-framed structure apparently aligned perpendicular to Harbidges Lane. A contemporary ditch was interpreted as a former boundary. Both features were constructed during the 12th century. At the south-east of the site was a right-angled ditch, possibly an enclosure ditch. Pottery dating to the 12th-mid-13th centuries was found in the fill.

A small amount of hammerscale, which is produced during the smithing of iron, was recovered from the fill of one of the beam slots.
