Summary
Former house built 1890-95 for a local boot & shoe family, the Claridge's. The house was purchased from the family by the Rushden Hospital Committee and officially opened as the Rushden Memorial Hospital in 1949 in memory of local people who lost their lives in WW2. Later known as the Rushden Memorial Clinic.

Full Description
{1} Built for Ebenezer Claridge in between 1890-5 as a private house. [Ebenezer Claridge owned the Boot and shoe factory on Rectory Road - HER No. 7203/81]. Plans for the proposed conversion to the hospital in the late 1940s show treatment rooms on the ground floor with wards on the first and second floors. Intended to be a cottage hospital, by 1951 it was a clinic for out-patients. Closed in 2011.
{2} Level 3 building recording survey was carried out prior to conversion and extension to create 11 flats.
