Full Description
{1} Archaeological building recording was undertaken prior to the restoration and conversion of the building into holiday lets. The Coach House is a three-bay structure measuring 12.2 x 5.65m externally, aligned W-E, rising c.4.5m to eaves height and c. 6.5m to the ridge. Its external walls are constructed of stone throughout, and appear to be of a single build. The roof is clad in modern machine-made clay tiles, though evidence suggests that it was originally slated.
The three rooms comprised a stable for horses, a room to store tack and maintain tack and store hay and a room to store a small horse-drawn vehicle. Evidence of blocked openings indicate that the building had an earlier phase with a different purpose.
