Full Description
{1} 1911 ceramic façade of Bewley House (Mercers Row) by Alexander Anderson, backing on rather incongruously to the 1960s Waterloo House. Rather fine with two canted bays between rusticated panels with circular garlands and attractive rounded corners. Waterloo House, located on the Market Square's south side, built 1962-5 by AW Walker & Partners. Five storeys, much too large and clumsy for its site. It replaced a simple building of c1840, stuccoed, with giant pilasters.
