Full Description
{1} The workers houses on the estate were based on the designs used by the architect at East Carlton Park.
{2} The second wave of housing (the first lies to the east of Rockingham Road) built in the 1930s by Stewart and Lloyds on a modified garden suburb arrangement, largely using their architect LM Gotch.
{3} By 1939, Stewarts & Lloyds had constructed some 2,149 houses in two large estates on either side of Rockingham Road, bounded by Rowlett Road to the north, Hazelwood Road to the west, Occupation Road to the south and the railway to the east. The housing was supplemented by a workers' club and sports ground between 1937 and 1938, an Odean cinema by March 1936 as well as shops, schools and churches.
