Full Description

{1} Archaeological evaluation of the former Hawkins Salmon site identified a small number of undated features and a dated containing a single sherd of Roman pottery.

{2} Archaeological of three house plots prior to development identified a scatter of features associated with a very small assemblage of Iron Age and Roman pottery. Several ditches aligned north-east to south-west, two curvilinear ditches and several pits. One of the curvilinear ditches had a possible entrance; it may be a round house ring ditch or small enclosure. Only one feature, a pit appeared to date from the Iron Age, the remainder of the Iron Age pottery was residual in later features. A watching brief on further house plots to the north found no further contemporary features.
